Unit 4. Sports
1. Which of the arguments in the article do you agree with? Which do you disagree with?
- I agree with second article, because sports fans always enjoy the sports events and their favorite athletes playing. So they pay a lot of money which is going to the team. Also athletes working harder than other professions that’s why they are right to make big money.
I disagree with third article, because people choice their jobs theirself. Athletes got talent, so they can do sports. So people don’t have to complain about their salary. Also there isn’t need to compare other jobs paying.
2. Do you think professional athletes make too much money? Why or why not?
- I think professional athletes make too much money. Because they are already became star. They can participate shows and many other events. So they can make much money.
1. Imagine a trip to the top of Mount Everest. If you had the money, would you like to go? Why or why not?
- I think if I hadn’t money also I can go top of Mount Everest, because if I have capacity for hiking I can make some sponsor. But I don’t have that kind of competence, so I don’t like to go top of Mount Everest. So money is not point.
2. Which of the extreme sports mentioned in the article would you like to try? Which would you never do? Why?
- I would like to try skydiving, because I dreamed many nights that I am flying. I felt excited and secure. I would never try white-water rafting or something water sports. I really scare with water.
3. Do you think that only Americans enjoy extreme sports? Do you know someone who does extreme sports? If so, do you think this person likes to take risks? Is this person wealthy or bored with modern life?
- I think all the countries have people who like extreme sports. It isn’t only Americans. I knew someone who does skydiving. He was very wealthy, but he had an accident and severe injured. So he spent his all of money for medical treatment. Now he is ordinary person, but I never saw his depressed face, so I think he likes to take risks and really enjoyed that extreme sport.
